Software firm moves in

JP CENTER—The computer age has finally come to Jamaica Plain’s central business district. Infrared5, a software consulting and design company, moved into offices at 2 Harris Ave. a few months ago.

“I like this neighborhood a lot. It made sense to be out here,” said company founder and Sumner Hill resident Chris Allen. His wife Rebecca Allen is the company’s creative director. Founded last year, Infrared5 focuses on the popular multimedia software Adobe Flash and the Red5 server, a program that handles such Flash applications as streaming video on the web. The company’s services include creation of multi-user video games and online video editing.

Infrared5’s senior software engineer, Todd Anderson, is the author of the new software book “Adobe AIR: Create, Modify, Reuse.”
